WONDER OF THE WORLDS
by Sesh Heri

Written in the first person in the voice of Samuel Clemens, WONDER OF THE WORLDS is a gallivanting adventure story starring the narrator, Nikola Tesla, Houdini, Grover Cleveland and the King of Mars.

It's a bit longer than it needs to be-- particularly the beginning-- so I won't say it can't be put down.  It can be put down repeatedly.  But there's enough of the spirit of H. Rider Haggard and Edgar Rice Burroughs here to keep the story moving.

The plot revolves around Tesla's invention of an electric airship which is capable of interplanetary travel.  The protagonists pursue a Martian craft, which has stolen a rare and vital device of Tesla's creation, back to the Red Planet, where they encounter a subterranean, enslaved population.

Ultimately, the heroes return to Earth and are required to keep silent about their adventures.  The ensuing mishaps ensure Tesla's eventual and otherwise inexplicable obscurity, which is engineered by a secret society, the Order of the Flaming Sword, whose hidden hand has been behind much of human history.
