SEVERANCE PACKAGE
by Duane Swierczynski

The Mission Impossible-esque premise of SEVERANCE PACKAGE begins with a seemingly normal Saturday office meeting, which rapidly becomes a bit more heated than usual.  The boss offers his charges a choice; drink the Kool-Aid (in this case mimosas) or get shot in the head.

The entire office is a cut-out for a secret agency that is in competition for the CIA.  Finance is so obscure, who could tell  the difference anyhow?  Some of the employees are aware of the nature of their work, and some aren't, but only one is willing to take the easy way out and drink the mimosa.

The boss' secretary turns out to be auditioning for a job with this secret agency; she shows her chops by taking out the employees in  colorful fashion, one by one.  But unfortunately it isn't as easy for her as she had hoped; Murphy's Law kicks in for her and she takes some licks.

I won't spoil the ending for you; suffice it to say that this book is good dirty fun, with a lot of violence and some nice twists and turns.
